BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Camp Taylor Fire Protection District was created under Chapter 75 of the Kentucky Revised Statutes.  The initial board was comprised of three members, but was enlarged when Chapter 75 was amended to require Taxing Districts to operate with a seven member board: 3 appointed by the Louisville Metro Mayor, 2 elected from property owners in the District, and 2 elected from the membership of firefighters.

The Board of Trustees is charged with the responsibility for the general operations of the District.  This includes collection of taxes for budgetary expenses under KRS; providing funds to adequately equip and supply the District for fire protection; and administrative functions, such as providing insurance coverage for personnel, and paying operating expenses.

The Board of Trustees appoints the Fire Chief and sees that a roster of competent personnel is maintained for the prevention and control of fire within the District boundaries.  It is the Fire Chief who is responsible for the Suppression Division of the District and who presents those needs and concerns to the Board.

The Camp Taylor Fire Protection District Board of Trustees meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month to conduct its business.  All such meetings are open to the public.
